substack #15
In case you’re new here or a reminder could help, this newsletter began as an exploration of figuring shit out, one day at a time.
Hi, I’m happy you’re here.
I tried to sit down and write this week’s letter at least 10 times. I’ve been dealing with some health flare-ups over the last few months and I’ve had lots of doctor’s appointments and bloodwork lately (more on that below). I haven’t been able to settle much this last week. But I promised I’d try to keep writing these every week.
So, here’s where I’m at right now.
Things that are helping me figure my shit out right now:
The rain has finally let up and we are once again bathing in sunshine. Los Angeles is back to her ✨gorgeous✨ self.
For my LA/NYC girlies don’t fall for all the TIA Health ads all over your feed. Take it from me they fucking suck. For LA/OC people, a friend recommended The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute over at UCI. All of my visits have been great so far and today I go in for my first round of a new treatment.
I am one of many Asian Americans breaking down episodes of BEEF with my therapist this week. I don’t have the spoons right now to talk about the show in the way I want to. But for now, I’ll say it’s a must-watch, especially for kids of immigrants. From rage and repression to class and culture, it sure stirs something in your subconscious. Watch it and I’ll get around to writing more next week, In sha'Allah.
Speaking of low spoons, I love Jezz Chung’s post on masking.
Lastly, it’s important to celebrate wins when they come, so I want to should out my sibling and her phenomenal historic win for LACCD faculty! Organizing gets the goods!
That’s all for now. I’ll be back in a week or two.
Thanks for being here.
Bianca
Thank you to Hiba and Kimmy for upgrading to paid subscriptions! As I plan for the year ahead paid subscriptions support things like residency application fees, website hosting costs, and all the other little things. Your support is so appreciated!
